A days fishing can consist of a lot more than just catching fish. To me
the sites and sounds play just as important a part of a days enjoyment, and
nothing pleases me more than the kingfisher. In my experience I usually hear one before seeing it, and there is no mistaking its call. You then either see a flash of brilliant colour, or if you are really lucky, it will
come and perch on a nearby branch. I have watched grass snakes slither down the bank at the side of my box and swim across the lake. Such things I find so important to the day, and are all part of "GOING FISHING".

using this along with a centre pin reel? I for one certainly did. My first
rod was a three piece cane with a greenheart top section and a reel the
make of which I cannot remember.
But I can certainly remember my next one.
I saved long and hard to get a "TRUDEX" which I still have the pleasure
of owning and using, along with a three piece split cane rod that I acquired
at the same time.
This is more of a common site now, more sophisticated by far but does it
put more" fish on the bank" or is it "more money in the bank" for the manufacturers.
To me money has taken over from pleasure in certain cases, but that is only
my opinion. Angling is a wonderful thing. Every session can be so different.
My Centre Pin Reels
This is a front and back view of my "TRUDEX" It was a cheaper version of Youngs "RAPIDEX" one of which I also own. There is only one big difference in the two and that is the line guard. On the "TRUDEX you get a line guard that is fitted with two screws which have to be removed in order to change from left to right hand wind. On the "RAPIDEX" the line guard was an integral part of the reel.
This is my "RAPIDEX" you will have noticed that it is not in such good condition
but I have not had this one from new.
This is my more modern "Adcock & Stanton" centre pin reel. I have had this reel for 16 years and it runs just as smooth and true as the day I bought it.
The only thing is that I wish it had a drag of some sort, but I think you have that option if you are buying one now.

The reel has no dents marks scratches and is in full working condition.
I bought this reel brand new in a closing down sale along with an abu zoom-casting rod
Some years ago. Unfortunately the reel box did not survive storage but the reel is Unaffected in any way. I still have the rod in its original bag if anyone is interested
Rod in good condition but bag has small hole in bottom and is a bit grubby due to storage.
