Dogs
JOES   FRIENDS
MEG AND BESS WERE BOTH PEDIGREE WORKING DOGS AND   COMPETED SUCCESSFULLY IN BOTH WORKING TESTS AND FIELD TRIALS. THEY WERE MY CONSTANT COMPANIONS FOR JUST OVER 15 YEARS AND ARE SADLY MISSED.
WE GOT BOTH DOGS AT 8 WEEKS OLD. THEY GREW UP THINKING THEY WERE SISTERS. GOLDEN RETRIEVERS ARE HARDER TO TRAIN THAN LABRADORS
YOU HAVE TO BE MORE PATIENT WITH THEM AS THEY TAKE LONGER TO "GROW UP". BUT IN THE END I THINK YOU HAVE A DOG WITH A REAL CHARACTER
AND ITS WELL WORTH THE WAIT
This picture shows Meg (black labrador) and Bess (golden retiever)when they were retired from working. Both lived to the ripe old age of 15 which is very old indeed in dog years. We lost both of them within twelve months of each other when Bess died Meg just gave up the will to live. They never spent a day apart in all their years Bless Them.
So here is the new team Teal and Skye. After quite a few years without any dogs we decided to get these two Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. They are American wild fowling dogs bred specificaly to work in water (they have webbed feet) and survive in the toughest of weather conditions. There are not too many of these dogs in this country yet but they are gaining in popularity. They are very loyal dogs to their owner but are much harder to train than other retriever breeds.
